This mandir is located just next to Mukteshvar mandir complex. At first when I saw it painted in flaming red and yellow color I thought it is a new mandir. On reading on the internet found out the interesting myths and legends attached to this mandir.
The main mandir is dedicated to Shiv, remember Bhubaneswar is a Shiv Kshetra 😀. It is painted white. It is built in Pancharatha style architecture.
The second smaller mandir is dedicated to Devi Gowri. Consort of Shiva. Here Parvati is seen in the form of Gowri.
There is a legend that Shiva came to this location for some quite meditation Parvati with the help of Narad found him here. So she came here and cried and stayed here. They were thirsty and need water so Shiv told Vishnu to provide water. Vishnu created the Bindu Sagar lake. Shiv Parvati drank that water and Shiv stayed back near Bindu Sagar as Lingaraj. So every year on Shitala Shasti Lingaraj visits Kedar Gowri temple to marry Gowri Devi.
Legend also mentions that Raja Lalitendu Kesari of Somvanshi dynasty built this temple between 9-12 th century in memory of a couple whose love was doomed. They were running away from the village to get married secretly. While passing thru a jungle Kedar got attacked by a tiger and died. When Gowri could not accept that Kedar was dead she jumped into the pond in this complex. Ever since young couples come here to marry and seek blissfulness in marriage here.
